On behalf of the General Contractor, Katerra Construction, L. S. Caldwell & Associates, Inc. (LSC), the Forest Ridge Vistas Project Contracting and Employment Compliance Officer, is pleased to host a virtual Direct Hire Job Opportunity Event for this Ward 8 Project.
The virtual event will be held on Thursday, April 22, 2021 from 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. This is the first of a series of Direct Hiring events for Subcontractors seeking to provide a significant number of new employment opportunities in various trades, specifically for Ward 8 residents.
Located on Pomeroy Road in Ward 8, this Project will feature restoration and renovation of 398-unit affordable housing project encompassing twenty-nine (29), two- and three-story residential buildings located in southeast Washington DC and built between 1965 and 1968.
L. S. Caldwell & Associates, Inc. was directed to develop an Employment Outreach Plan that would ensure successful notification to DC residents regarding opportunities for hire on the Forest Ridge Vistas Project. At present, the Project seeks to interview potential candidates for the following employment opportunities listed below:

The successful completion of this project will require a multitude of talent spanning an array of trades. Katerra Construction and their subcontractors are seeking to hire individuals from the surrounding neighborhoods within the Ward 8 community. There is a significant history of under-utilization of local residents in various public and private sector developments throughout the District of Columbia; yet while Ward 8’s unemployment rate has decreased over the years; it still retains the highest unemployment rate of all the Districts Wards. Forest Ridge Vistas is hiring Ward 8 residents and contractors. Katerra Construction and their subcontractors are focused on promoting existing and potential hiring needs while also ensuring that Ward 8 residents are the primary recipients of economic development and employment opportunities.
